Tron 2.0 Master Server Down

Post by Daddyo »

Ever seen this before? Gamespy seems to be working for other games. Maybe just a backup or something going on eh? Can't see or join anything.

No...

NO...

NOOOOOOOOOO...

PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T HAPPENING!

I WILL LITERALLY SCOUR THE INTERNET FOR SOME KIND OF A DISNEY INTERACTIVE TELEPHONE OR EMAIL ADDRESS IF THIS IS TRUE.

Or we could start another petition. Heck, it got us a sequel. lol

Anyone want pitchforks and burning bales of hay, along with a trip to the Walt Disney Company Headquarters in California?

If this is true, then I officially announce 2008 the saddest year of all time.

It is a sad day in the digital world.

It's probably temporary. I wouldn't panic . . . yet. Let's wait, and see what happens. Gamespy still hosts servers for games even older than Tron 2.0.

A lot of those games are more popular than TRON 2.0, though...

Still down, btw.. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. Worst comes to worse we can send a community written Email.

I don't think there will be any need. I've discovered that other games are affected too, and that Gamespy is aware of the problem and working on fixing it.

I just checked, and the server is back up.

Also, Disney's got nothing to do with it. The contract for just about every game that uses Gamespy, says that Gamespy will keep running the servers indefinitely for all games.

Well, it's no big deal for Gamespy. It's not like they have one server dedicated just to Tron 2.0. For older games, you can bet one server handles hundreds of them if not more. That's why support from Gamespy for Tron 2.0 is unlikely to end any time soon. It's just one more game to add to the list on a server.

Though the day may come that Gamespy decides to axe support for a lot of old games, to focus on newer ones. Indefinitely doesn't mean forever.

But, I really doubt it will happen for a long, long time. They're still supporting Shogo multiplayer, which is . . . what? Ten years old now? :D

BF 1942 was mostly dead last night too, only about 5 servers listed (normally hundreds)

I don't know exactly when it happened, but the TRON 2.0 Master Server is back up again. Sure took them a while. Let's hope it stays up, this time.

Well if it ever came down permanently, I'd imagine we could come up with a replacement. The bf '42 servers are all visible again too.
