Sounds to me like you're talking about some kind of tunnel/path, where as soon as the player steps in (s)he is automatically moved from one end to the other without having to walk.
Yes, that's possible. It occurs in the Single Player part of Tron 2.0, more than once. It happens on the Main Processing Core level, and on the Command Module level. The player is picked up and carried down tunnels. But it would be just as possible to simply push a player along, without picking them up.
It's not that easy to explain how to do, though. Especially since it looks like you want some kind of energy effect to travel along with the player. Changing the pose of the player is also tricky.
