YCP Sweeper

Here is the progress of the rebuild for the YCP Sweeper. The design has received some adjustments, creating a single central pod, instead of the double pod as seen in the original. I am also using only B/W textures and creating geometry specifically for the lightstrips.

Here are some screnshots (again thanks go to HangmanEXE). Hangman wanted to see what the design would look like using a B/W version of the Recognizer cockpit (which does work with the original idea I tried to work from way back in version 1), so consider this one variant but is not the final look.

Very cool design! It fits well into the Tron-style, i curious to see the final result (maybe in a bigger screenshot ;) ). Keep up this nice work!

Absolutely. Larger screenshots will definitely be available when for later stages. I intend to make a walk-around tour, as well.

A later project will be the interior, including the cockpit and gunner control nodes (x2). For this project, I intend to have triggers to carry a Sweeper along a set path and triggers to allow some sort of firing capability (if possible; this will be tested).

I agree with FAQ!

I have had a chance to look at this beast up close, an I can tell you guys that this thing "LOOKS" like it is a predator. Pure an simple!

I LOVE IT!

When you get to look at this thing up close it has a very beefy/TRON military feel to it that makes it look like something the MCP might have created for EXTREME system pacification...

Ironically, the Tron 2.0 comic has a similar design, though sleeker cockpit but only 2 barrels. I found that AFTER I created my original Sweeper model. I'm gonna have to locate that image on Google or in a cbr.

I would give some Energy for a vehicle mod!

Now that you mention it: yeah, the comic did have "fighters" that were similar to your sweeper. But, you came up with your design before the comic. :D

True, FAQ, so perhaps I tapped into the Grid during the concept stages. Now that is a FREE SYSTEM!

I am thinking to create some custom textures for the Sweeper to reduce polycount. At the very least I want a usable version that does not rely upon customized or overly squashed/stretched textures. I will create the custom textured model after the initial Sweeper model is completed.

As promised, updates of progress, with closeups! Thanks again go to Hangman for the screencaps!

The cockpit is currently using the one from the Recognizer. Thoughts? Opinions? Suggestions? Constructive criticism? The hard part of deciding on cockpit shape and design is near, so I would like to know how people feel about this design.

Bonus: hangman presented me with an image of the Wii Tron Tank Cockpit! I'll use this as a reference for some of the cockpit interior design.

I finished the build, for the most part, so here are some shots using my own system. It is not as nice as Hangman's showing, but what I have will do in a pinch. I added some of my own DataBlocks as props, and to show them off a little.

Now that I have converted a lot of textures and have grasped a better understanding of modifying textures, I have started going back over the Sweeper to re-texture some sections. I have also started serious work on the interior of the cockpit. The next step will be rebuilding the Sweeper with cleaner geometry.
