Running some Killer App Mod Servers

I've decided to put the LDSO KA servers on hiatus for a while. I'll bring them back eventually, at some point. But starting this weekend, they'll no longer be online as normal.

However, I will run one server with deeahchur's YCP HQ map. Running only one server will have the benefit of bringing more attention to his new map.

Yea sorry about that, I just decided to say "Screw it!" and play Team Fortress 2 with a buddy. I ended up re-installing this game, but I'm keeping it as unof. 1.042 for now until there's a good time to install KA or maybe when 1.2 is released.

Just install KA now. Feel welcome to ask TronFAQ for some tips if you keep running into errors. He can also give you more of an update on 1.2, but it may be a while yet.

Hi guys,

I just dug out my old Tron 2.0 copy and remembered using KillerAppMod a while back. I was surprised to see that no one is actually hosting a server with this mod

I will try running the TronSrv.exe on my Linux server with a 100Mbit connection. If it works, we will have a KA-Server online 24/7 and not just on the weekends.

I managed to do that with Wine and a No One Lives Forever Server which is using the same engine and a similar server program (NolfSrv.exe). It could take some hours from now on as I have to transfer 4GB of .rez files to the host. Wish me luck

TronFAQ runs KA servers on the weekends. Connect with him for additional information if you two want to swap off or something.

Coordination for playing together has been a bit sporadic, and I know my availability for this weekend will be extremely limited due to Father's Day celebrations. Maybe we can work out a more organized method of connecting with other players, and drawing in more!

I could host a 24/7 server with TronFAQs configuration if he likes to. I will talk to him.

However, the server is offline now - just some minutes after I finally got it running. Cannot reach the machine anymore. Maybe I'm getting ddosed or its a hardware fault. Bad day!

Just hope I'm getting it up again in less time.

Hey schmatzler, welcome to our site and thank you for volunteering to run a KA Mod server 24/7. Appreciate that very much.

I'll continue to run LDSO KA servers for the time being, again only on weekends. That way there's only a short overlap when both sets of servers are running. It will be great to see a KA server running in the EU. Although most people seem to get very good pings to the LDSO servers, someone living in Europe will always get a better ping to a server that's closer.

Yeah, sorry about that. We made a change to the forum recently, so that new members can't post links right away. It had to be done, because we were getting a headache from all the spammers. Not being able to post links means they don't bother posting any more. You're allowed to use links eventually, after a while.

I don't think it's my place to tell you how to run your server. But I do have a suggestion, and a request.

You might want to rotate the type of gameplay every so often, from Derez (Deathmatch) to Disc Arena and Light Cycles. Rather than stick with Derez all the time. But it's up to you. I don't know how easy or difficult it is for you to change the server setup. Disc Arena usually seems to be the most popular, due to the unique nature of its gameplay.

The page on your site that shows the server's status, mentions to get v1.2 of the mod. But v1.1 is the current version, while v1.2 isn't available yet. People could get confused when they go looking for a v1.2 but can't find it anywhere. The upcoming v1.2 won't be released until some time later this year.
