Nice vid & sound

Post by xistence »

I no real youtube user nor i am a fan of stuff like Final Fantasy (still it looks intresting in design tho), but... as i'm a total d'n'b (drum n bass) fanboy, i stumble across this video. So if you like such sound, have a look at this video, i like it (and that already should mean something).

What impressed me about that video, was the fact that it has a nice timing, it matches well to the music. I like atmospheric dnb (like LTJ Bukem, Omni Trio, etc.) as some faster style as well, paired with scenes of that type it was better chosen then that what i already saw hundered of times, made by several clans as gameplay videos (think of CS videos, with always the same slowmo's, heavy metal guitars, and so on).
Heh, i can remember when rave was current, long time ago for me tho, during the last year it evolved to a more harder form. Taste is different, this is honestly a bit to 'rough' for me :), but it reminds on the background music for lots of shuffle videos, which can be found out there. For that kind of dance style, it matches.

It is not just because of time itself, it is furthermore a question of prefering. Except for very special projects, i don't see a reason to make my own :D. I just like to consume such stuff, if it is done well.

You know, years ago (~10-12 years) i made some electronic music with a friend of mine (and no surprise: ambient, dub-techno and dnb style). During that time, we both got a good insight into the current music 'situation' at that time. You can say that every country has its own 'specialty', if it is about music. UK and Germany were always well known for electronic kind of music, UK very much about Dnb or stuff like 2step, Germany for things like rave, techno, dance but also styles like house (except for stuff like 'detroit house', there the USA had a great influence). Don't ask me why, i don't think anyone could give a good explanation for that phenomenon.

Yes! well germany has made some amazing inventions throughout history! unfortunately a lot of them were made in war times i practically like all the german aviations designs/concepts from of world war 2 most are still considered ahead of their time* and if you believe that germany also made the first electro-magnetic flying saucers and other such innovations into advanced propulsion technology? thought it took minds form many countries to build the one thing that ended the war but could eventually destroy us all :( but the point im getting at is maybe its the same with the creation of music and also the the geological location of a civilization on the globe/earth ? sounds almost to simple a solution to the problem and i guess other factors would also play a part in the creative aspects of a civilization? an extreme example would be if a human civilization developed beneath the sea (like in bioshock) and another apon the surface how different each would be in the creation of music and technology...........

Heh, at this point it starts to get also a bit philosophical :D .
Yeah, you're right. What makes me always a bit sad (and i know it wasn't ment that way by yourself) that most pps on this world are thinking about german pps just related to the theme of war, even these days. It shouldn't be forget, that we also had great writers, poets, componist and more as well. And not only german made a lot of invention because of war, everyone does in history (creation of swords, rifles, etc.), or just think about the current developments for the armerican army these days: soldiers controled by neural interface (already reality, i reed such an article a few weeks ago); intelligent bombs, drones and much. Sounds ike sience fiction, but it isn't anymore.

And yes, inventions were always made based on the greatest needs of mankind, regardless if we speak about german, american, african or any other people. Inventions were made because man wanted to be lazy or mighty, or it was just a conincident. Really bad IMHO is the fact that a lot of inventions were not made because of war, they were just used for war. You know, objects aren't evil or do hurt people, people are, if they use them in that way.

As a recommendation, if this discussion should go further into that direction, we should make a different thread for it. Otherwise it starts to get a bit off topic.

Yes! you have raised totally valid points that i agree with "innovation dose come from need"/and this was the point i was trying to make though a little unsuccessfully :( and as with seeing germany through the eyes of war i dont really view the german people or the country in that regard :D what i was try to state was that i like the technological innovations that were made during the war by germany and that it was unfortunate that they come about in war times just like the atom bomb :( if all that creative energy went into something other then a bomb and no war had transpired and with all the technological genius created by germany and other countries the world would have been a much better place :D

No, i just own a few tunes i did by myself. We never released something under a name, we just did mixes and some jam sessions in ambient style. We stored our stuff on the PC of my friend, but you know, Windows98 could be crap, especially if it crashes. And my friend was no specialist in computers, so our stuff was dumped after the crash. That was also the reason why we were not intrested in making music anymore (at least my friend was).

I uploaded two pieces that i made, but don't await too much. I never had that amount of time for making music i wished to have, so i'm not a pro at all. At least this is/was the direction of style i wanted to achieve at that time.

(one file (dnb01) is WAV, sry, but i'm just to lazy to convert it as MP3 :D, and it is unfinished, so it ends very suddenly. The other song takes its time, it's ambient, so it builds up slowly)

Awesome! tunes! xistence! they have a very ambient feel :D have you added any music to maps done for tron 2.0 ? i guess that be a good way to distribute a your tunes.....i really dont think you should stop making music on the account of Windows98 (being a bitch) dont let bill gates rob your musical creativity! oh! and just out of curiosity what would be the name of your dnb outfit ? i think if i could do tunes they would be some very harsh industrial terror and the name of my outfit would be ""electric pants cybertron"" (epc) :D

No worries, as said: i never really stopped making music, i just don't have the time at all, related to all the stuff i make (just to list a few: developing games (as job & private), writing on some private API-Projects, artworks, writing storylines). And all at least seriously, a reason why there is no minute in my life, i won't do anything else then something creative/productive. My 'day' has about 18-20 hours each, every day, regardless if on holiday, at weekend, etc. .
Music is currently at the bottom of my priority list, but this might changed sometimes.
cryogen4000 wrote:and just out of curiosity what would be the name of your dnb outfit ?
You mean a sort of artist name/branding or a name for the track itself? As artist there are only two i will ever use in my life (and which i use for a decade now): 'xistence' for all artwork and creative produced stuff, 'xistence imaginations' for projects like programs, games or similar. First is my offical artist name, second is a kind of branding for all my released stuff, or if you want to put it in that way: like a 'record label' for artists, releasing their music stuff, except i just release everything (not only music) and just my own stuff under it.
The track itself has no name, as it is unfinished, otherwise the file would already be named.
