I've been watching a web site for probably 8 years waiting to see if this would get produced, and now it is, supposed to be released next year. The book was written a long time ago, was pretty good, here's info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendezvous_with_Rama

I can't remember the book's details, but I thought it had something of the feel of 2001 a space odyssey, it'll take alot of work & cutting edge CG to make it worthy. Later novels made it into more of an action type movie, which I hope this film doesn't turn into. Feels weird a guy younger than me wrote the adaptation.

Don't ask me how but I stumbled into an upcoming Disney remake of 'escape to witch mountain' with the original kids - thought it'd be funny to put up here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1075417/

The scene looks funky, yet original. I might just read that book sometime.

I read some book about really cool looking "homes of the future" once. There was a picture in it that looked a lot like the scene you posted up here, Daddyo.

It looks like an inverted, elongated Halo map.

I can remember that story, and there was a game about it some years ago (not succesful tho as it was a simple point-and-click-adventure with rendered pictures).
Films and stories about artifical worlds are always unique and intresting (like Ringworld from Larry Niven or stuff about Dysons Sphere), so i'm curious what they make out of the story.

Looking at the director's films on imdb, not too sure what to make of him, we'll see! How are they going to get Clarke's approval now?

They could've picked worse or better. And someone in his estate probably owns the rights now. I'm sure if he wanted it done then the estate (or the contract) will make sure it happens. But you never know.
