When I read this, I thought it was some kind of joke. That April Fool's had come early. But apparently, it's real! Disney is going to own Star Wars. The mind boggles.
Consider, however, that in the deal, Lucas detailed treatment and handling for the next three episodes of Star Wars.

Well, at least Lucas has put thought into the actual movies. I was listening to NPR this morning, and the sound clip they used included, "Korriban, ancient home world of the Sith". While I do not know if the selection was deliberate/recommended, it gives some food for thought for the direction the movies will go. With Lucas as a consultant on the project, he'll definitely want to ensure the movies are quality, and since he will not be directing them, there may be more leeway for making the next three movies more fan-approved.
There is so much possible material that could be used, whether that including utilizing Timothy Zahn's trilogy summarized into one episode or as a sub-plot, Luke establishing the Jedi Academy, the inclusion of Mara Jade, etc. Not to mention whether the original characters will be re-cast or simply referenced and playing with the next generation, such as the Solo children. I doubt the Vong will feature, though, since that would not adequately follow what has been presented in the original trilogy and prequels.
