Killer App Mod v1.2 Preview

I wish that there was no conflict with the copyright, so you could publish the game + the finished mod for free. If we all would collect some money (for advertisement, facebook or whatever), we may resurrect the game huh ?

Maybe change the name or something ? ^^ "SystemEncounter", "ScriptConflict" or simply "UserError" in general ?

Ironically, a magazine called GameStar published in Hungary gave away Tron 2.0 for free a couple of years ago. I'm not sure how they convinced Disney to let them do that. But they must have gotten permission. Maybe Disney considers Tron 2.0 to be worthless now, so they didn't care if it was being given away.

I do wish GOG.com would get the rights to sell Tron 2.0 on their site. But, other than Tron 2.0, what does Disney have to offer in the way of good games? Not much. That's probably why GOG hasn't made negotiating with them a priority. It's not worth going through a lot of hassle, when Disney has so few games worth selling. I also wouldn't be surprised if Disney simply aren't interested in working with CD Projekt, to begin with.


But, let's face it. If anyone wants Tron 2.0, they can get it through BitTorrent. I'm seeing all these Tron 2.0 "Let's Play" videos on Youtube lately, and I know those kids didn't buy the game. If Disney is too stupid to realize the game still has value, then that's their problem and they are losing out on revenue.

Sweet updates, man. Let me ask a pie-in-the-sky question:

Can a 3rd install disk be made to run after installing TRON 2.0's first 2 disks that will set everyone up with all the goodies? I go to an annual Arcade Expo locally and I'm sure some free TRON 2.0 Expansion DVD's would go over well in the publicity department. Heck, I may even try to make a cosplay outfit of Jet next year. (Or Guile. I look more like Guile in the face.) Hey... it can't be worse than TRON-guy's famous figure.

Back when Tron Legacy came out, I put together a DVD with our projects on it and gave away copies at the theater I went to. I wanted to make it an autorun DVD with a menu where you could browse screenshots, videos, and install stuff. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to design the menu and ended up simply dumping the project files on the disc.

I could give that idea another shot, in the future.

I don't mean to detract from the previous conversation, but I just wanted to show off some more stuff I've been working on for 1.2.

I have been re-vamping the skins for the existing rod weapons as I create new ones for the Rod Rifles.

The body of the rifle has been re-colored to more closely match the color scheme used for the Killer App disc on the Xbox version. It's dark cyan now instead of dark grey.

The ball on the scope of the rifle is finally a color other than orange. My other Lol skins will have the same treatment.

And I have gone a step further and re-worked the Killer App skins for the first-person hand model as well.

I may have also re-done the Killer App and Xbox disc skins. They are now very close to the originals but still have a bit of my personal touch.

Hello everyone. I'm just stopping in to say how incredibly impressed I am with the continued work you all have been doing on Killer App Mod and Tron 2.0 projects in general and say THANK YOU ALL! You've absolutely outdone yourselves and it's great to see the continued enthusiasm for the refinement and creation of new content and means of user access to it on the Tron 2.0 grid. it makes me feel proud to have been a part of it's start and also quite elated to see the energy still flowing.

Hey 9Volt, glad you dropped by. Thanks for the kind words, and also many thanks for all your contributions to the project. Perhaps in the future, we could collaborate again when some more new Multiplayer characters are added. I'd like to add at least three more characters in v1.3, down the road.

I wait this new Killer App mod....

The release of Killer App v1.2 will happen by the end of 2013.

Would like to release it by August 26th, which will be the 10th Anniversary of the release of Tron 2.0. But, frankly, at this point it's not looking too likely. All I can pretty much guarantee is before the end of 2013.

New Disc Absorber weapon in action, recreated from the Xbox version of the game but serving a new purpose. It stuns enemies from a distance.
