Was Call of Duty: World at War released in Japan?

Post by TRON.dll »

I mean, half the game has you killing Japanese dudes in the most brutal ways possible, with heads flying off with headshots and limbs and gore flying everywhere from grenades. And in addition, the ending cutscene shows the Enola Gay nuking Hiroshima, followed by Japan's terms of surrender.

Seems like it might be just a *little* offensive to Japanese gamers.. lol

Yeah, I'm bored.

Only several ways to find out!

Okay, didn't make a full on investigation, so I only saw release dates in NA and Europe.

Doubt that stopped Japanese gamers from playing it themselves, though.

Yeah, makes sense.

Instead of a cutscene showing the Enola Gay nuking Hiroshima, they should've had a level where you're one of the crew members in the Enola Gay. That way, you would've been able to experience the nuking of Hiroshima firsthand. That would be really cool.

Well, it's not just the really cool nuclear explosion, but the fact that you would've been in a WWII bomber. Being able to see the emotions of the crew would've been pretty cool, too.

Definitely could've made for a better US Campaign ending. Can't complain about the final cutscene being composed almost entirely of historical footage, though.

Well, seeing as COD is all 1st Person Shooting...

Try looking into actual aircraft games for that experience. Ever hear of the B-17 Flying Fortress game by Hasbro? Played it, and while old, it makes a decent simulator.

I didn't mean actually flying the plane, I meant something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBv-T9Wvp8c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And speaking of World at War, I just got it for my birthday the other day! Yey

There's actually a pretty funny story behind that. You see, I got it and looked at the back of the box and saw that the minimum requirement for processor speed was 3GHz. I have a 2.6 GHz processor, so I'm a bit worried. Now, this game was new in the box from Wal-Mart where it was purchased for $50. If I were to have opened it, it wouldn't have been able to have been returned, and if it hadn't worked on my PC, $50 down the drain. I consulted some friends who all said it should work and I thought to myself, "What the heck, why not". So I get on my computer, about to open the box (thus voiding the whole "get your money back if you haven't opened it yet" policy), when I start up Steam and see that it's half off this weekend.

So I returned it to the store, bought it off Steam, ran the game in safe mode (which automatically changes the game's resolution to 600x480, as well as lowers all the settings), and played Nacht Der Untoten (Nazi Zombies) for a good half hour at 60 FPS before I had to leave to go somewhere for the weekend.

Even funnier: Treyarch's official statement on the system requirements says that if your PC doesn't match the requirements on the back of the box, you can't play the game. Kinda funny, considering I'm .4 GHz below their processor requirements and I can still run the game at full speed. :D

Anyone else have the PC version? Would love to get together for some tank battles. 8-)
