Spore.

Post by SweatyPyro »

Come on, you all know you want to buy it.

And for those anxious to get your hands into making your star creature:
Spore!

Download the Free Creature Creator Trial. It only gives you so many objects, but that is enough. For those who want to get their hands dirty, pay the $10 for the whole toolkit.[/url]

My son and I picked up the Creature Creator last night for ten bucks. It was fun for a while, until my video card took a dump...which I'll be making another thread about,

I was trying to create Stripe from the movie Gremlins in the Spore Creature Creator, but so far this is all I have. I started off with the wrong body type, but I'm still trying to figure out how the body shape editing works. I may try again tomorrow, but with a much skinnier design. It's hard to explain how it works...you can DL the demo and mess around with it yourselves.

You get a MySpore account (instead of MySpace) where you can upload your creatures and people comment on them. It also captures video of you making your creature walk around and dance, and then the game directly uploads the video to YouTube.

That being greatly said, check out my collection:

Yey.

EDIT: Why are these tags closing themselves when I already took the sweat and tears to do that?!

Cool! Here's our page:

<a href="http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=usr ... key">Shock The Monkey</a>

My son has a few that he isn't finished with yet, so they haven't been uploaded to our MySpore page. Those are mine, with the exception of the Puff Puff, which my wife created.

The game is pretty fun, and we all take turns making freaky looking stuff and voting on whether or not we should keep them. It's probably the first game that all three of us really enjoy.

On another note, I saw one creature on the Spore site that was an anatomically correct male human. However inappropriate, I have to applaud the person's imagination and use of the tools available.

I also managed to see somebody's creature almost resembling Homer Simpson.

I was just messing around with a very Homer-ish figure. It's pretty easy.

My latest creature is a motorbike (without driver). It's on my page right now.

I see you commented on my son's "jelly bomb"...lol

He appreciates it. :-D

I made a Bass Guitar creature tonight, and I named it after my bass idol, Jaco Pastorius...but this is called "Jaco PaSPORius"...get it? Clever, huh?

It took about five minutes. I'm getting the hang of changing the size and types of the bodies on the fly instead of hitting "new creature" and hoping they throw a usable form my way. I was doing it wrong at first, but it's all pretty intuitive after a little tinkering.

Anyway, here he is:

lol, I'm gonna try to make that in Guitar Hero World Tour.

So, how open is the spore editor? I'd think it's pretty open if people are making "anatomically correct humans". hehe.

Spore will be a fun game, especially when you can get the UFO. Unfortunately, Spore will probably not work on my computer considering the fact that their website doesn't already. Any word of a port to consoles? And I mean other than the iPhone and DS games.

w00t! 150th post!
Why is it significant? Because it's 15.... ten times. 8)

There are a lot of possibilities in Spore, but it's not quite endless. I put up a few more on my page last night...a beer bottle, a motorbike, and a giant ugly chick's head. The link is above if you want to check them out...unfortunately, the website only renders low quality images so you can't see all of the detail unless you download them and put them in your own game.

Some of the images are my son's and my wife's creations, but you can spot mine easily (the really ridiculous ones). I hate carrots, so I made a carrot monster, etc., etc., etc.

Maybe your duck head would go great with my duck?

Those are some cool creations. I particularly like how your Stripe gremlin turned out, Avi. The Hangover monster is also pretty cool. 8-)
