This interview with Mark Rein about UT3 really ticked me off.
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/08/03/joyst ... -mark-rein
The interviewer asks Rein about whether the modding tools will become available on the PS3, and then gets all upset saying it's "not fair" to make people buy the PC version too if they want to make mods.
Then he asks whether there will be keyboard and mouse support on the PS3 version. Rein says they'd like to do it, but it will cause problems because then some PS3 owners will be using a gamepad and some the mouse and keyboard. Which won't be fair situation for everyone.
Is this guy doing the interview a clueless moron? Like Rein said, how else are you going to make the mods? PS3's don't have the needed software to make mods, and it would require writing new software from scratch to run on the PS3. And then everyone would need a mouse and keyboard too, in order to have the kind of precision needed to control the software to make mods.
You know what? The PS3 is not a PC, and stop trying to turn it into some cheap alternative to a PC. You want to make mods? Buy a PC and shut the f.u.c.k up already.

I didn't read it as the guy wanted to develop mods on the PS3.
I think what he meant was if buy the PS3 version can I just download the tools and content to work with them on my PC?
Maybe a special download code could be provided with the PS3 game. I don't see what is so hard about that. testing would be a pain though with out the full PC version.
You already bought the content of the game once. It would be nice if they cut you a deal on the purchase of the second platform. but with that said... really people it is only $50. if you want to MOD, then likely it is a major hobby of yours and $50 is a small investment for the typical hobby...

Right. And if you have a PC that can play the game to test the mod you're creating, then why do you have the game on a PS3? Maybe some people like buying all the different versions of a game for different platforms, but I sure don't. I'll buy one version and stick with it.zook_one wrote:testing would be a pain though with out the full PC version.
If you want to get into modding just shut up, bite the bullet, and buy the PC version. And like Rein said, there's nothing stopping people from playing mods on the PS3.
