Sorry to bump this, but I happened to stumble upon this thread...

I've heard of REZ, and it is inspired by TRON. The game itself is more of a shooting gallery-ish thing, as you only move a target around the screen, and not your character. The game is unique because it's music (which falls into the "techno-trance" genre) is almost completely dependent on what you do. That includes locking on to and destroying enemies.

The game also has a storyline. Here it is in a nutshell:

It's the future, and all of Earth runs on a supercomputer controlled by an AI named "Eve". Eventually, "Eve" begins to question it's entire existence, and goes into a seemingly endless sleep mode. This, of course, sends the entire world into turmoil and havoc. You are a programmer who must attempt to bring "Eve" out of hibernation. You will have to dwelve deep into the heart of the system, find "Eve" and bring it out of it's sleep mode. Unfortunately, all of "Eve"'s counterattack programs are still around, and identify you as a threat. You choose one of five different digital warriors, each with individual stats such as target movement, health, lock on limit, etc. to save the planet Earth!

One of the neat little graphical aspects of this game is that it constantly types out command lines in the corner of the screen, kinda like certain parts of TRON 2.0. Essentially, what you see on the screen is a visual interperitation of what the programmer is doing on his computer. Likewise, what you do in the game influences what happens on the little command prompt in the corner of the screen.

It was released for Dreamcast in Europe and Japan with undocumented mouse support, and later for PS2 worldwide as a special edition. I've seen the PS2 version, but it's like $30 USED!! :-(

Here's a vid:

Some parts of that make me think of the firewall level in UE2..

So, does anyone have this game? If so, how is it? :-D

I was at a local Wal-Mart the other day and they had this demo on a 360 for an Xbox Live Arcade game called "REZ HD". It's apparently an HD rerelease of REZ, but I didn't get a chance to try it. :(

I was actually kinda surprised that no one here posted about this already.. :!:
