File mirrors down, I'm working on it
Filefront deleted some of the Tron 2.0 files in my account there, because they were old, without informing me. This is the second time they've done that.
Every file that's been deleted has a second mirror, so it's not an emergency. But I'll work on restoring the files over the next few days. Just wanted to give a heads-up, in case anyone asks about it.

The MCP appropriated those Chinese language files a long time ago, and still hasn't returned them.Daddyo wrote:Were any chinese language programs missing?

Of course, it would help if the MCP itself wasn't erased.
Or was it . . .

Have you complained to the management at Filefront? It doesn't seem fair that they would delete your files just because they were old.

Well, if they were old enough to remember the MCP when it was just a chess program....death_program wrote:Have you complained to the management at Filefront? It doesn't seem fair that they would delete your files just because they were old.

Re: File mirrors down, I'm working on it
A quick update about this. I've been having trouble with the file host I've been using, for the last month. They deleted some of my files without informing me, and the site has been behaving strangely.
Now I just found out that that site, Filefront, is shutting down in less than a week. Which explains why the site's maintenance has been poor lately, and why I've been having trouble.
So for any of you that use Filefront, make sure you have a backup of your files. You'll also need to find another file host.

What? Filefront, gone? That's my favorite site to get downloads from. You don't have to wait for half an hour or pay for a subscription, and the DL's were pretty fast.
That really sucks.

Maybe somebody will take custody of it.
Could it be economy related??? Have video game sales been hit over last couple years?

The next best place to download game files fast and free, is Gamershell.com. But they don't allow you to upload and host your own files.
Filefront was probably the best place to both upload and download game files. With it gone, anyone wanting to host game files for free is basically screwed. All the other sites have file size restrictions, delete your files after a set number of days, limit the number of downloads, etc. I have yet to find another site that compares.

What kind of Doom 3 mods do you have? I've been thinking about playing that one again. I used to like the online multiplayer co-op mod. We'd mainly just goof off for a while, find and kill a monster, then take screenshots of each other posing with the dead beast like we were on a hunting trip. I have one pic of three other players standing on top of the Sabaoth after it was slain, with their guns aimed at me...lots of fun.Jizaboz wrote:Ah man, thanks for the heads up on this! Well, it seems Filefront has been rescued. It was supposed to shut down a couple of days ago, but the original founders of the site bought it back from Ziff-Davis. A lot of people thought the shutdown notice might be an early April Fool's joke done in bad taste, but there's an announcement over at Filefront explaining otherwise.
So, your files may be safe after all. But I'd keep an eye on Filefront to see if they start making any changes, under the new ownership. They might change their policies or start removing features.

That does sound like fun heh. Yeah the open-coop and last man standing mods were good. My mod is a sort of COOP RPG mulitplayer mod. You can also play it single player by just running a listen server. You can find all that stuff on my website http://home.roadrunner.com/~fragmeister in the MyDevil section. If you'd like to contribute some testing, mapping or whatever shoot me an email sometime! I hadn't worked on it in quite some time but I would like to release a newer cleaned up version with some additions, and make a linux build of the code. My mod is also completely open-source, if you are a C++ guyAvi wrote:What kind of Doom 3 mods do you have? I've been thinking about playing that one again.
