Hey all,
Being all revved up from watching the crappy but no less exciting bootleg of the Tron 2 demo from Comic Con, I decided to try and play through the game on Hard using only the disc. No Sequencer, no Cluster, just pure disc. Needless to say, I cheated as soon as the Infected swarmed after freeing Ma3a and running from the reformat wall. I think it kinda blows that the disc block doesn't provide some protection from the Ball Launcher or Suffusion. Also, I could never understand why programs like the Energy Claw and Prankster Bit are introduced too late to be maximized. What a waste!
Oh well! It was interesting upgrading only armor instead of weapons. It really seemed to pay off in the Internal Partition and other Infected-heavy levels.
However, even though I paid close attention to the Build Point counter and talked to every NPC, I still only achieved a final build of 9.9.1. I believe you can get 10.0.5? What's the trick? Download every E-mail and every program, even if you already have a better version?
Just curious!
Oh, and I'm going to try and meet some of you vets online some Saturday. So shine up your discs 'cause I'll be prime target fodder!

10.0.3 if you've patched the game to v1.042, otherwise the maximum score is 9.8.3 (just including this info for the sake of it)xenobuzz wrote:I believe you can get 10.0.5?
Easy things to miss:What's the trick? Download every E-mail and every program, even if you already have a better version?
- Getting all the build notes between Light Cycle races on the Light Cycle Arena and Staging Pit level
- Not talking to the ICP who's betting on the races, or giving him the wrong tip, on the Light Cycle Arena and Staging Pit level
- Forgetting to talk to ROMie before freeing him from his cell on the Prisoner Bin level
- Looking for the build note in his cell, and the notes way up high on a ledge in the Prisoner Bin level
- Looking for the build notes way up high on ledges in the Transport Station level
- Getting the final build note on the Primary Digitizing level
- Getting all the build notes on the Packet Transport level (behind the upper level car doors)
- Not saving at least one Tower from corruption on the City Hub level
- Getting all the build notes between stages on the Firewall level

Re: What build points have I missed?
When you called the viruses "infected", that immediately made me want to play a mod for Left 4 Dead where the levels are TRON 2.0 levels, the survivors are ICP's, the standard infected zombies are Z-Lots, tanks are Rector Scripts, Witches are gridbugs, etc.
Make sure you're patched up when you look for servers on Sunday, or you won't see any.

Re: What build points have I missed?
Hey Tronfaq,
Thanks for the info! I'm using the Unofficial patch so I guess that's the problem?
I've played through the game MANY times, so I recognized all the items you mentioned. It's funny, 'cause I only recently realized that there was a build counter on the top left of the screen!! DUH!!
I might try to play through again and really watch the counter, but I still can't pass some areas without cheating, especially the reformat level, guarding the I/O towers, and protecting Ma3a. Using only the disc primitive is one hell of a challenge in those situations! Maybe this time I'll figure out some new tactic.

Re: What build points have I missed?
Unnoficial patch is what you want.
It increases the number of custom maps you can have (there's a limit), and it makes it so you don't need the CD in your PC to play.
In other words, you're good to go.

Re: What build points have I missed?
What TRON.dll said. It's not the Unofficial patch. You're fine there.
You just missed some stuff along the way. Keep an eye on the build note counter, when you reach the end of a level. If you see something like "3/4" or "4/5" then you know you missed one on that level.
Also, there's other stuff that adds to your build points. Completing certain tasks or actions. Like talking to ROMie, or talking to the ICP betting on the races and helping him. It's easy to miss those.
For the reformat level, I tended to use the Sequencer form of the disc. It let me throw multiple discs at once, to eliminate the Z-Lots faster. For the I/O Towers, by that point I had the Cluster version of the disc and tended to use that. For protecting Ma3a, I used the Ball Launcher. It seemed the easiest way to kill the ICPs, quickly. The explosion from the ball impact does damage over a larger area, and combined with the Corrode subroutine it's quite deadly.

Using only the Disc Primitive in those situations will definitely make the game hard. You've got to pick up every subroutine you can, and use them to your benefit.xenobuzz wrote:I might try to play through again and really watch the counter, but I still can't pass some areas without cheating, especially the reformat level, guarding the I/O towers, and protecting Ma3a.
