Recognizer

Post by TRON.dll »

First off, if this is in the wrong section, by all means, admins, please move this to the appropriate section. :)

Anyways, I'm making a game called Recognizer where you fight for the MCP. Obviously, you fly a Recognizer, hence the name. Here's the OFFICIAL (hehe, couldn't resist) first preview trailer! 8)

Please note that the actual game will not feature open grids like this and therefore, you will be unable to go off of the map. I really want to make some pretty huge levels, so I'm really kinda experimenting right now.

Oh, and that deal at the end is from Sim Copter, FYI.

Hey, if you need a theme song for the game, I know of a song called "Recognizer" that's ready to go.

I know the guy that wrote it.

Well, Gamemaker doesn't really get along too well with MP3s, and Wavs make the exe's and gamemaker files ginourmous.
I may be really limited on music and sounds, demo may or may not have sound. The music in that vid I added in Windows Movie Maker. :)

The project is running along very smoothly, though. :-D

Yeah, you see, I think you and Lazor said something about hoping it wasn't dead, and that "motivated" me to keep working on it! Okay, worst excuse ever, I really just wanted to credit a whole bunch of people for the smallest things possible. :-)[/i]

Sweet, it's great to know that you're all excited. :-D

I'm about to start working on the demo level again. This level will be in the full game as "Standard-Substandard Training". Be aware that the game takes place during the original movie, so I may be able to throw in an old 80's computer joke here and there.

The training level will consist of several rooms that will contain exercises to better your pilot skills. It's all surprisingly going very smooth. Each room will contain a maze-like area that will require a different skill or combination of skills in order to get through.

If anyone has suggestions, feel free to post somewhat of a "want" list.

Looks like this upcoming week is going to be quite a week for Tron fans. The latest #5 issue of the Tron comic, a demo of your Recognizer game, and the KA Mod (testing seems to be going pretty well).

Congrats on getting a demo done. PDT_Armataz_01_34

I have finally determined that it is time.

Time to allow all of my fellow conscripts to try the long awaited demo of RECOGNIZER!!

Well, that and I was kind of rushing to get the demo out before Saturday. So, unsurprisingly, there is one problem:

On the main menu, there's a button that allows you to view the game info. I forgot to finish that part. :?

This means that no one was credited, unfortunately. If it really bothers someone, drop me a line and I'll have an updated version up ASAP.

Oh, almost forgot. Here's the epic link:

Enjoy! :-)

Announcing....

RECOGNIZER: ARCADE MODE!

From the main menu, you can access what I am currently calling "Arcade Mode".

Arcade mode will contain 3 "sub-modes", each based on a type of gameplay, two of which you have already seen. :-D

Arcade mode allows you to choose any gameplay, and then rack up a ton of points for that mode. For example:

In the Arcade/Searchlight, you try to find as many bits as you can before your time runs out.

Unfortunately, arcade mode scores cannot be saved (check out the post at Tron-Sector if you wanna know why..). Single player mode will contain scoring, which can be saved if you complete the game. For example:

Get X Points for completing an objective
Get Y Points for completing a room
Lose Z Points for failing (more on that later! :-D )

If you really wanna brag about your arcade scores, do a screen capture and post it online or somethin'. :D

Uh, oh! Got a situation!

And it's a pretty tough one, too. :-?

Cam_the_Man over at Tron-Sector has reported that the demo does not work on Vista! O noes! HurtSmiley

Anyone here have any ideas on how to fix this problem? :D

SmileyDuel

XP with the Green Sabersword, Vista with the Red Sabersword! IT ARE EPIC! :-?
