I'm planning to do an emergency Killer App Mod v1.1a release.
It will install properly on the Steam version without having to mess around, and it will also incorporate the better Multiplayer fix I had planned to debut with Killer App v1.2. All the other huge improvements will have to wait for KA v1.2, though.

Re: Planning Killer App Mod v1.1a to work better w/Steam rel
This is a preliminary list of changes to Killer App Mod v1.1a, and is subject to change.
- Changes in v1.1a (Interim release to improve compatibility with Steam version of TRON 2.0)
Changes to the Installer
FIXED - Eliminated the TRON 2.0 has not been run before, you must run TRON 2.0 at least once error, by having the installer automatically set the TRON 2.0 shortcut icon to run the game with Administrator privileges. On Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10 UAC is turned on by default and not running the game with Admin privileges caused the aforementioned error and other problems.
- Using an updated version of the installer creation software to create the latest installer, should prevent crashes and hangs some people have experienced when installing the mod. The installer has also been changed so that if it does for some reason crash, it will allow you to re-attempt the install without displaying an error message and then aborting.
- Automatically checks to see if TRON 2.0 or the Mod Manager is running, and aborts if this is the case. The game must not be running while the mod is installed.
- When the installer checks to see if the same, or previous, version of the TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod has been installed, it offers to delete the folder containing the mod files and allows you to continue installation rather than aborting.
- Added a check at the start of the installation, to make sure you have enough space for the entire process to complete. (Both installed files, and temporary files generated by the installer.)
- The installer no longer copies the extracted documentation files to the mod's installation folder during install. Documentation is now included inside the installer itself - so if you delete the documentation you extracted earlier, you will not see errors during mod installation.
- The uninstaller now cleans up after itself better, and removes every last trace of the TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod when you uninstall.
- Sets the Single Player Light Cycle selection to the first available new Light Cycle color, to prevent the new Light Cycle colors from appearing to be locked.
CHANGED - Installation of the Unofficial v1.042 Patch - before installing the mod - is now mandatory. The option of installing the Official Patch is no longer allowed. The installer will not proceed until you install the Unofficial Patch over top of the unpatched game, or a previous Official Patch installation. (Note that the Steam version of the game has the Official Patch pre-applied.) This was done because the Unofficial Patch solves additional issues that the Official Patch does not. Such as preventing the Please insert the TRON 2.0 Disc 1 into your drive error for those players who do not have CD/DVD drives in their computers.
- The installer comes in a self-extracting file now, which places an installer icon on the desktop after extraction, to make it easier to get started. This change also prevents potential installation errors caused by failing to extract all the mod archive files first, before attempting to install.
- Places shortcut icons for TRON 2.0 - Play without Steam, the Mod Manager, documentation, LDSO web site, and All TRON 2.0 Files page on the desktop, in addition to the Start menu.
- Checks if you have older saved games, and warns they cannot be loaded when the mod is active or else the game will crash. Then offers an option to delete the saves.
- Sets TRON 2.0 to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode, to alleviate any possible issues that could prevent the game from running for some people.
- Checks to see if there was an error writing to the autoexec.cfg file during install, and warns the user about this. The installer not being able to write to autoexec.cfg can result in the in-game and cutscene geometry appearing stretched, if you chose for the TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod to use a widescreen resolution.
- Checks to see if the Steam client is running, and aborts the install until you exit Steam.
- Automatically sets Steam to run with Administrator privileges, as a precaution to ensure the Overlay, Cloud, and Big Picture features work correctly in the Steam version of TRON 2.0. The installer informs the player about this, and provides instructions on how to disable the Admin setting in case it causes problems with TRON 2.0 in their specific case, or causes problems with other Steam games.
- Changes the Automatic Updates setting in Steam for TRON 2.0 to Only update this game when I launch it, to prevent Steam from installing updates without notifying the player first. Updates installed by Steam can potentially play havoc with any mods you have installed.
- Deletes the installScript.vdf and registry.bat files in the Steam TRON 2.0 folder, to prevent all of the game's settings from being reset to defaults every time you click the Play button in Steam. These scripts play havoc with any mods you have installed.
- If the installer detects you have the Steam version of TRON 2.0, it will offer to let you type in your CD Key serial number if you already own a Retail CD/DVD copy of the game. If you do not have a CD Key, the installer will generate a random one for you. This is necessary to allow online Multiplayer matches to function correctly.
- If an error occurs during installation, the installer will recommend trying to install in Windows Safe Mode. It will also mention visiting the LDSO web site to get additional help.
- Will now automatically check online if a newer version of the TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod is available.
- Warns the user to set their Profile name to whatever they prefer, before installing the TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod. Changing the name after installing the mod, causes errors to occur when running the Mod Manager.
- Warns the user that the TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod is not guaranteed to work with hacked or remixed (pirated) versions of the game.
- Warns the user that version 1.1a of the TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod is not compatible in online Multiplayer with previous versions of the mod.
- Warns the user not to patch the game or use a No-CD crack after installation is complete.
- The icons for the installer, TRON 2.0 game launcher, and Dedicated Server are now high resolution.
Changes to the Mod
FIXED
Mod Fixes - Fixed the GameSpy logo (now the Qtracker logo) overlapping the TRON 2.0 logo, on the Multiplayer Join Internet game and Join LAN game screens in 4:3 aspect ratio.
- A regression was introduced in TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod v1.1, that caused the Play button to be missing at the bottom of the Single Player Light Cycles screen when the Custom Play tab was selected, in both 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratio. This has been fixed.
CHANGED - If you select Join Internet game, the in-game server browser now works again. You will be able to find and join TRON 2.0 Multiplayer servers, and even host your own servers.
- An unused feature that checked for any updates to TRON 2.0 in the Join Internet game screen, has been utilized for v1.1a. The game will see if a newer version of the Killer App Mod is available, and now notify you in-game.
- The default name when you host a server is now "TRON 2.0: KAMod v1.1a", to let people know you are using the mod.
- Modified the English TRON 2.0 Game Launcher. Clicking the Display button will now show - and allow you to select - all resolutions your video card is capable of. Including resolutions that are not 4:3 aspect ratio. Selecting any resolution in-game will be a feature of TRON 2.0: Killer App Mod v1.2.
- Other minor changes.
Changes to the Mod Manager
FIXED - Added an application manifest to the Mod Manager that allows it to run with Administrator privileges, to prevent some potential issues.

You should see the changelog for Killer App v1.2. It's at least three times as long . . .
